If it does happen, though, boomsticks are a good choice for it, because they pretty much have an infinite amount of ammo that can be made by players. -------------------------- Message 2000 from *ideas (#504): Date: Fri Aug 1 16:23:32 2003 CDT From: Elendil (#2237) To: *ideas (#504) I think the only thing that keeps people from constantly gunning each other down (non-GM alts, anyway) are the dual restrictions of finite ammo, and rare/easily lost firearms. Take both of those qualities away and everything changes. That, too, may not be a bad thing, but the alt wars will only get worse. -------------------------- Message 2001 from *ideas (#504): Date: Fri Aug 1 16:28:16 2003 CDT From: Camber (#22034) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Alts and alt restrictions This has been a problem for a while, but I had a quirky idea a couple of years ago about it that I just remembered again. What about some sort of checkin-checkout system for alts? Like some sort of automated, time restrictive interface where you can check out one of your chars, but you can only have one out at any given time, and you have to use strictly that alt for a day or so before changing to another? I dunno, say you had, oh, I dunno... 5 characters. 4 would be 'locked down' in some way (@newted, maybe?) while the 5th was playable. If you wanted to play another one, you'd @checkout that char and it'd make checks that you've played your current char for x hours, and that the others haven't been used for y hours, and then perform the unlocking of the new char and the locking of the old. Just a thought. People shouldn't be playing 2 characters actively at once for any reason anyway, so I don't see IC ramifications being an issue. -------------------------- Message 2002 from *ideas (#504): Date: Fri Aug 1 16:39:19 2003 CDT From: Elendil (#2237) To: *ideas (#504) Sounds like a plan to me. -------------------------- Message 2003 from *ideas (#504): Date: Fri Aug 1 17:15:11 2003 CDT From: Dante (#10660) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: The weakness. Is that people with multiple alts, have more then one account. Meaning that my email for 5 accounts that I think I have are all seperate and different. In addition I've also given some of these extra characters to others to play, thus making it more of a problem. In order for it to work, Quinn would need to allow us to distribute larger numbers of characters into a single email addess. -------------------------- Message 2004 from *ideas (#504): Date: Fri Aug 1 20:43:12 2003 CDT From: Augustus (#18463) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: re: Alts Actually, I believe Quinn has it set up not from alt email addresses but from you ip address, if you are connected frm the same ip address then you can not spar your alt.
