Sort of like advanced mages spells for each circle. You could impose huge penalties for weapon combat and allow these other spells to be more of an edge in a combat situation. -------------------------- Message 1663 from *ideas (#504): Date: Mon Dec 20 17:09:52 1999 CST From: Tirafal (#24173) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Previous I doubt that will happen for a number of reasons. First, spells have to be taught and finding a teacher to learn those spells could be next to impossible. Much easier to give the regular coded combat skills to the mages. Second, there is an automatic penalty when a spell is cast in the way of insanity. Yes, using the weapon skills causes fatigue but fatigue, on a crystal for crystal basis, is much easier to lower then insanity. Personally, I'm still trying to figure out what the purpose of Focus is. It doesn't give you any kind of edge when casting a spell that I can tell, nor does it lower the amount of ins you take when a spell is cast. Most checks (at least that I can tell) when a spell is cast are done on a WP against WP basis rather then Focus. Can somebody tell me where it fits in the coded combat system? What checks it and when? -------------------------- Message 1664 from *ideas (#504): Date: Mon Dec 20 17:21:41 1999 CST From: SternHoHoHo (#21938) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Focus It helps in contests of one magic user vs another, or one magic user trying to overcome the willpower of someone. If you cast a spell on some non-user, he resists with his WP. The higher your focus is, the more likely you will overcome that person's WP. A few other spells may actually use focus vs. focus. I know for a while there when I had really high Focus, Dante would fail spell attempts on me, and he had higher WP. -------------------------- Message 1665 from *ideas (#504): Date: Tue Dec 21 10:44:24 1999 CST From: Tikiaido (#24781) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Useless stats... Why bother punishing her when it'll just make her unhappier -- she'll find other outlets for her frustration. Ignoring tends to be the best policy when it comes to bullies -- even those who don't realize that they themselves are the bullies, and not the victims. -Jess -------------------------- Message 1675 from *ideas (#504): Date: Sun Jan 2 20:26:57 2000 CST From: Clockwork (#22209) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Vehicles Cars and Motorcycles could be sold. -------------------------- Message 1676 from *ideas (#504): Date: Sun Jan 2 21:04:23 2000 CST From: Naxos (#9972) To: *ideas (#504) Cars and vehicles in wastes, mad max.
