It's stats, these might be the skeleton of a character, but it isn't the end all and be all of said character. Merely by knocking Rathe (heehee, poor guy keeps getting used as an example) down to having all 0s we don't erase his reputation, or make it any more or less exciting to meet him again for the fifth or sixth time. I'm not saying I'm against a reset of stats, but I'd like more clarification on why precisely. I think something more drastic needs to be done, but it requires everyone to work together with no quick fixes. -------------------------- Message 1610 from *ideas (#504): Date: Sun Oct 10 01:25:40 1999 CDT From: Karma (#20542) To: *ideas (#504) I will actually come out and say I'm against a reset of stats, especially if it's for the reasons mentioned about needing an influx of new blood. That comes with new characters and new players, not forcing everyone to totally remake the characters they have as someone else -- because stats -do- play a role, whether we like it or not, in determining some of a character's abilities, and abilities do have a part in shaping personality -- or create new characters. If players are motivated to RP, they will RP. Numbers won't change that very much, and some people do come on to just kick back and spar. (I know I do it when I'm tense or frustrated just as harmless tension relief, and I'm not the only one.) There would likely be as many people angry over a reset as glad of one. Few people will speak out against the idea for fear of sounding selfish, perhaps, and some people may not really care either way. Personally, I don't think we need that kind of upheaval. We need -something-, perhaps, but not that. It didn't solve CS's troubles, and they've done it a few times. -------------------------- Message 1611 from *ideas (#504): Date: Sun Oct 10 15:07:19 1999 CDT From: Silencer (#24923) To: *Chat (#5391) and *ideas (#504) Subject: a good idea We need to address something that is singehandedly ruining our moo as we know it. Before I say this, I would like to make a statement: Under no circumstances should anybody be kicked off a MU* simply because people say he/she should be. Because then that would be obvious favoring and people holding a popularity contest of who has the most friends. That aside, I must contradict myself by saying the following: We must @newt/@toad Tirafal/Merridwen. I may not be the one to pass judgement on somebody, but this has gone too far. Sure, there may be plenty of people who bitch and moan on this MOO, but none as prevalently annoying as Tirafal and her alt. People say this MOO is dead and has no RP, but a big problem is right here: we're too busy dealing with the problems and complaints, especially of the one noted. Everytime I connect, and I'm sure others feel the same, and I can't wait to make another round to the R/T Lounge or at least go hunt, I see a message, such as :164 messages on *chat. It makes me sour to read through almost all of them being Tirafal-spawned. I have searched most of her posts for some sort of sense or intelligent, non-hurtful opinion, but have found none. Simply put, she's ruining this MOO, not any GM. It's one thing to have a kindly suggestion to *ideas or chat and read through it, but it's quite another to read several complaints and quite, well, retarded analyzations of taglines, as an example. It makes me want to type @quit, and hit my computer with large blunt objects. And yet I haven't left, and neither have alot of people. Some may interpret this as 'well, she's not a big enough problem," but perhaps some people really _do_ enjoy what they do on this MOO, and may even expand to RPing and whatnot, that is, if a certain person is cleared out. It would be one if it was somebody like Dagger, who just kind of floated by after a month, but we've had to put up with this crap for way too long. I hate to single out Tirafal, but truly, this has gone out for too long. I don't believe there's a soul on this MOO who would side with her, and she's turned into just another mere problem. Maybe this if for Quinn especially, but there's abuse on the Moo which you can get @jailed for, but it shouldn't be limited to calling somebody a dirty uncle-fucker on the public channel repeatedly. It should be when somebody is no longer voicing their opinion, or, if they are, they are doing it in an inappropriate manner. So, I would kindly ask for a petition, and for everybody to type the following message: @my tag is @toad/newt Tirafal/Merridwen NOW! Thank you, that is all. -------------------------- Message 1612 from *ideas (#504): Date: Mon Oct 11 08:19:54 1999 CDT From: Pounce (#24787) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: *eyes his ability to defend people who've left the room...* I think we should stop defending people if they die or if we leave the room they're in. *ponders defending Scorch valiantly while she is offline and at home and he is in the Austin Room getting annoyed because he missed an unwield trying to boost* send -------------------------- Message 1613 from *ideas (#504): Date: Mon Oct 11 21:28:09 1999 CDT From: Clayson (#17237) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: Payne River Have an exit from the Payne River on the GW Plains to the ocean ;) -------------------------- Message 1614 from *ideas (#504): Date: Tue Oct 12 17:03:56 1999 CDT From: Fortitude (#24841) To: *ideas (#504) There are currently no plans to link the Undersea with any other areas of the MOO. -------------------------- Message 1615 from *ideas (#504): Date: Tue Oct 12 17:05:25 1999 CDT From: Clayson (#17237) To: *ideas (#504) Well why not? This is outlined in a GM document and no, you can't see it. It'd have to be one long river and it's not. Also, I'm opposed to using the Undersea to link up areas of the MOO. It's not a big highway although we have made it easier for players to move around within the confines of the area and to adjacent land masses. It's unfortunate that the Undersea and surrounding areas take so long to fly to by transport, but that's just the way it is and there are no plans from me or anybody else for that matter to make large shortcuts like that. -------------------------- Message 1617 from *ideas (#504): Date: Tue Oct 12 19:33:06 1999 CDT From: Murdock (#9869) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: lakes and undersea.. how about a lake that you can go underwater in? I remeber when it was easy for a player without super stats to buy coded weapons cheap. It is now too hard to get ahold of these weapons because of the hoarding and such. I'm not requesting that the GMs move away hoarded weapons, just create some more. Alot of new areas are opening up but I don't see any new weapons getting out. I've seen a couple of weapons by Fortitude coming out but that's it. If a wiz could possibly hand GM weapons down to a player who connects a lot, the player could sell the weapons and distribute them out equally. Armor and other gear too. -------------------------- Message 1629 from *ideas (#504): Date: Wed Oct 20 00:40:46 1999 CDT From: LocYak (#20718) To: *ideas (#504) Subject: I second the motion Good Call ClockDogg. Maybe bring back Sydney, have a few really low-key TP's where a NPC comes running into a room and randomly hands someone a weapon saying to look after it for a bit then never returns. You can't stash too many things at once in a certain area cause then one person gets everything. Maybe putting stuff in an area where only rous's can get them and then would gradually pcik them up and bring them onto ghostwheel plains would work.
