Nor to have access to any sort of available boosts or weaponery. But merely to be able to serve drinks, in the same form of the $Ahab bartenders, if it is at all possible to do so. Suffice to say, I was mildly irate. As should be evident, the crisis has abated, leaving me with several questions. 1: Who was that masked man everyone says they saw flying away from the telephone company's headquarters? 2: What the hell does a masked man (flying, no less!) want with my telephone company? 3: When the hell are they (my phone company) going to break down and run the cable for DSL through my area? The first wave is clownish behaviour attempted to disrupt primarily you and your characters. The second wave will be clownish behaviour that disrupts other players. The fourth wave will be clownish behaviour that disrupts all players. Petty you say? Why yes... yes it is. But the thing is this. You can ride around on your high horse of sturdy legs, and do whatever your programmer-bitted self feels like. Unfortunately I will still be here with the ability to reap misery. Ban me from a channel? Go nuts. Stop me from @sending to everyone? Give it a try. @jail me? Do it. @toad me? If you can get a wiz to, then I practically recommend it. But you can't stop me from getting alts, and new email addresses. And each time, all I have to do is log on and continue where I left off. This battle isn't fought with your pretentious 'katanas' and 'Grand Daiklaives'. It's gonna be fought with cruelty and misbehaviour of a completely OOC nature. You're powerless when it comes to one thing. I don't actually care about Ghostwheel. It's entertaining at times, but I wouldn't miss it were it gone. We've not gotten along before, but I've always held my tongue (relatively speaking) out of respect for the others who seem to get so much enjoyment. Well, my spite is starting to overcome that and I'm willing to do what I need to combat your arrogance and corruption. I know what you're thinking right now, aside from what an asshole I am. You're thinking that if you showed this to Mulder/Quinn you could possibly get my IP blacklisted. Well, you can try. But I happen to go to school alot too. And I can attack from as many angles as I need to repay the filthy behaviour I've come to hate so much. And if you try to blacklist where I go to school, you suddenly run the risk of banning Fortitude, one of the GMs of integrity that still comes here. I'm sure you'd be happy to have no potential opposition in your perpetual quest to turn this place into a world of Unicorns and Mages, but I'm not so sure the wizzes would be as willing to part with Fort. Instead I offer you a chance to avoid all of this ugliness. We can just hate each other quietly while coexisting in a moo that you reign over as king and I wander through as serf. Give me back my boomstick, give Clockwork back his stuff, give Matt back his stuff, give me 10000 crystals of restitution for the PKs we sustained and don't talk to me. This was a sad time for 'the Wheel' as it spiraled into a wreckage of empty possibilities and stale life... Then one day, a few other individuals @praised each other for their resilience and commitment to watching others cheat their way to the top. An *idea was born and these new individuals began to abuse @praise in the same ways that @spoof had been previously abused. Time went on and 'the Wheel' remained boring. Until these individuals also began to use triggers and reap crystals towards obscene attributes. Suddenly, some people could possibly rival the old guard. It was on this day that Venom thumped 8 people in the Round Room, even giving Owen a run for his money. Is it possible that the stagnant wheel had stirred new life? No! The very next day, @praise had mysteriouly been broken because 'like any toy, if you use it too much it breaks'... A few days later it was revealed to have been intentionally disabled by a GM who claimed no authority to induce policy change. (Ironically, his alts were very rarely @praised, but had reportably high stats through @spoofing and NPC.) After that, the Slisssh began to pop up in strange and random places, disabling the previously lucrative crystal-market and paralyzing the att-gain of the masses. If I tried to play there would be shouts of 'patronage' so loud they'd reverberate off the server room walls. It came to me that I've put almost sixteen hours of planning, building, messaging, struggling with code so that I could create a cool afternoon of play for people who despise me. Why am I bothering? So that it can be a race to see who gets the prize, then to see if there are any bugs in the code that can be exploited for profit, then for the next ten days we can all listen to a dissection of whether the race was fixed? I have got to be fucking crazy. I love this game, I have always loved this game. Now it seems a bit to late. So, I'm just going to put in my 2 cents. Nobody hates anyone here. Well, maybe Moon and Red, but that is personal and none of our business. Frustration runs deep when you see a group who are friends, noted, and they all seem to be the high ended char's here. Especially when one of the friends is the only active wiz. Personally, I don't give a rat's behind what you do. I'm here to play in a soap opera. I'll play with anyone as long as they add to my pretend. But there are many different types of players here. You have Clock, who feels safe in his environment, all the way to Rill, who enjoys the depth of rp and has the ability to play all kinds of char's to enhance our fun. Then there are the rest of us who are here, because we don't find TV fascinating, and in between our rl, we want to act, pretend, and enjoy without giving out to much information. Perhaps have a cocktail or two and have some fun. I think sometimes the people in between are forgotten. That both ends of the spectrum pulls, perhaps expecting the between to be as them. I guess I do give a rat's ass, cause now I'm lay it on the line. Moon and Rill, you have to stop creating high-ended char's for you and your friends. Enough is enough. Offer the in between, give them something horrid to counter the dead dragons, the over powered mages. Hoarding everything in power and offering nothing to the outsiders is bullshit. I would like you to name me one wyrm who is outside of your shower buddies. I don't think you can. Moon, you need to take responsibility, and I have heard the song and dance, I don't get paid for this, I'm doing it on my own time, bow down and kiss my dirty toes. Fuck you, turning your head away from the problem only makes it worse. You need to take control of the situation at hand and fix it. You're wife is not a wiz on this moo, you are. So hand Molly off to one of those oversized tits and take control. Throwing out slisssh to kill those who piss you off is not the answer. You need to see the problem here and stop playing favorites. I've known you a long time John, and right now, I'm wondering what happened to the man I used to know. You have total fucking control, but right now it seems are letting two ladies guide you. So stop it, this game is of death and destruction. Offer the in between a goal to kill, and I'm sure this crap will stop. Yea, they might be cheating and finding every loop hole within the code, but do you offer them anything else.? Your posts to *changes reflect your activity as a staff member. If there are no posts, you're not doing anything and can expect to be removed for inactivity. An area is not judged by its difficulty or the treasures it yields. A monster is not the sum of its attributes and skills. An item is not valued by the damage it does. Innovation within the theme is appreciated. Strive to contribute to the mythos by embellishing new cultures and denizens. I post most things to changes though I must admit I've been a bit lazy about it lately, not that anyone but Fort seems to be posting to it much anyway. >>Always present project ideas to the *staff (nee *gms) list before pursuing them. Do not invest time and effort in a project which may not be allowed. In particular, (a) plots or ideas which directly effect the theme and (b) items which reveal game statistics or mechanics should be thoroughly discussed and approved before any building or coding is begun. No one on *staff to present project ideas to for the most part. The staff member should retain ownership of weapons, armour, and other items which should be lootable upon the recipient's death. Rooms and their associated exits may be chowned to the player. As with all staff activities, the transaction should be noted on *changes. Anything I've put into the game had an IC justification, well other then the web shooter but I was watching spiderman that day and felt the need to web sling, I don't think it's ever actually been used in play, but if you want to be postapoc Spidy send me a moo mail and I'll think about it. >>Use common sense. If something doesn't seem perfectly ethical, ask others. If it does seem ethical, but it isn't, you probably shouldn't be here. I've been as ethical as I think most humans are capable of, if I'm wrong on that, then so be it, I'm not the one to judge only Quinn is. Anyway Thanks for pointing that out, I don't think I ever read it before, and if I did I'd forgotten it existed. It doesn't seem so to me. 1) it says 'under no circumstances', and 2) showing up on a @sweep is pretty implicit, and very definitely /not/ 'explicit' /notification/, not permission. Though I appreciate your attempt to address the issues raised in the ethics debate, you obviously dodged some very strong points in the help file by offering up meager responses to relatively detailed clauses. Perhaps you could explain some of the following: >> Be very careful of favoring (or even appearing to favor) your friends. A staff member must be particularly objective when dealing with those with whom he is involved in real life. --- More on this later... >> These activities include but are not limited to: fulfilled *requests, STAT CHANGES ON ANY OBJECTS, creation of new generics, or introduction of any object into the game. --- Now, I may be stretching, but I believe an NPC qualifies as an object in order for GM's being allowed to alter their NPC stats and atts. As PC stat @setting is explicitly illegal, perhaps you could explain why Mirg has 15000 lockpick and this was never submitted to *changes? I find it interesting that his lockpick stat is such that he can pick locks without the use of a lockpick, while Mirg as a character was inititally intended as a sex-slave created by Dakirion. Did I miss a big Fae mage plot where Moonheart granted Mirg superpowers in thievery? >> Always present project ideas to the *staff (nee *gms) list before pursuing them. -- Your reply of 'No one on *staff to present project ideas to for the most part.', though eloquent has nothing to do with the rule. 'ALWAYS PRESENT PROJECT IDEAS' is fairly straightforward. The relative inactivity of other GMs has nothing to do with whether or not you comply with the rules. It appears that more than just you as a GM reads the *mailing-lists, and therefore should be granted an opportunity to comment on your unilateral decision making. You said it yourself 'I'm not the one to judge only Quinn is.' Therefore you aren't allowed to make a judgement on the rules either: Only Quinn is. Unless Quinn himself deems that all other GMs who are still children of $builder, $programmer, or $wizard are now defunct, you must treat them as if they are still here. >> Any special items created for players must have an IC justification. A master sword cannot be given to a player unless he has some acquaintance (perhaps indirect) with a master swordmaker. --- At first glance it does appear that you have been comlying with this rule. However, when read with the aforementioned clause regarding favortism, one could draw the conclusion that you have been violating the code of ethics as Quinn had intended for them to be read. Owen has the sword 'Whisper' because of Moonheart. All seems fair so far until read in with the favourtism clause. Rill has been seen throwing down with a few interesting swords before that Moonheart hooks her up with. I find it interesting that two characters of the same RL person have a similar IC connection that allows for super-powered weapons. I don't think that it's too much to call this 'Active Favourtism' and claim that it is in violation of the ethics. Once again though, I digress. 'I'm not the one to judge, only Quinn is.' No statement can better sum up your disdain for other players of the Ghostwheel community. Why do you even bother answering anything if you refuse to acknowledge wrongdoing until Quinn himself is forced to call you for what you are? You have two choices as I see it: 1) Step up and admit to what is clear as day to everyone else, or 2) Quit trying to disguise it. You're not crafty so don't patronize us by hiding your lack of morality and ethics behind a thin viel of lies. If you want to cheat because no body has the OOC power to do anything about it, then just go for it.
