You can tell the range for a skill by typing skill It gives you the range for that skill. if your personal stat for that skill falls in the range then you are NOT out of range. Capiche? -------------------------- Message 6545 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Thu May 6 23:08:37 1999 EDT From: Flux (#24842) To: *Chat (#5391) Are you talking about the valid average range? That doesn't really determine anything other than what to set average at and therefore how long to make boosts take once you get over average. If you are talking about the Learn Range, then I'm just not following, because I've never found a way to check if you're inside the range. That's the one that is used for boosting. That's the reason under the old sparring system we had to acquire just the right amount of damage before we could boost. -------------------------- Message 6546 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Thu May 6 23:11:47 1999 EDT From: Red_Fang (#5907) To: *Chat (#5391) No no, was she standing close enough to the weapon range.. ya know like if you are holding it you got a better chance to boost than if not.. My assumption is that for every 5 hits you do you have 1 chance at boosting. Why, then, did it take 48 hits to boost? -------------------------- Message 6548 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Fri May 7 00:20:25 1999 EDT From: Flux (#24842) To: *Chat (#5391) That's the learn chance for when you are actually in the learn range. You weren't in the learn range. Quinn's modified the code so that you can still boost even if you aren't in the range, but the chance is much lower. So in otherwords, don't look at the boost chance in 'skill', it really doesn't matter much -------------------------- Message 6549 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Fri May 7 02:56:21 1999 EDT From: Durandal (#23874) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Wheefun May good. -------------------------- Message 6550 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Fri May 7 12:18:21 1999 EDT From: Pounce (#24787) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Learn Range Maybe I'm just abysmally stupid or something but I'd think "1 in 5" means you have a one in five chance to boost for EVERY hit you take. Although there is the 1 minute or boost interval wait, but I'd say that if your boostometer says clear, you should have a flat 20% chance to boost your skill per use by that logic. And being that 20% REALLY ain't that good a chance, that may be why you took 48 swings to boost. Also, even when you're below average, there's a 1 minute wait. So.... Maybe you've just got bad karma, bad luck or just plain bad timing, but I'd tend to think that if it's a "1 in 5" chance, that relegates it to luck of the draw. Just a thought. :) -------------------------- Message 6551 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sat May 8 21:37:14 1999 EDT From: DragonBabe (#5288) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Valley of Drach'Nal Uhm...Might not work for a bit. *hugs* DB/Di -------------------------- Message 6552 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sun May 9 01:32:47 1999 EDT From: Darius_Lee (#10280) To: *Chat (#5391) I need the name of a car from the 40's something a detective might drive Dari -------------------------- Message 6553 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sun May 9 01:36:30 1999 EDT From: Dalkirk (#20796) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: cars A black 1940 Ford Deluxe would be my choice. or maybe a 1935 Ford 5 window coupe Dalkirk -------------------------- Message 6554 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sun May 9 05:27:31 1999 EDT From: Chaotic_Neutral_Rathe (#14172) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Wheebop I'm in NM now :P All's cool (somewhat). Never did find them. Then, we headed on up towards Scranton. Day 3- Spent the day visiting with Rand's family. Finally got to meet my father in law, who is a rather nice man. Also got to meet his grandmother who is the funniest woman I've ever spoken to. Day 4- Headed up for Boston/Gloucester. Met with my Uncle and cousin, and were promptly given a tour of his Japanese natural garden. Day 5- A museum day, we visited the Peabody/Essex museum in the morning, and then the Salem Witch Museum in the afternoon. We also toured through several 'witch shops' and a few antique stores. Day 6- Whale watch. I can't even describe this. Suffice to say, it was sunny, it was warm and the whales were feeling playful and curious about the boat full of gawking humans. Item 1: Dakiron involvement: They didn't know about Ms. Psycho Mage's actions. They had a TERMINATION ORDER out on Cirrus. They want him DEAD, not hurt. Item 2: The psycho mage herself: I've been told there are no unknown magi. Be real, people, Dakiron's a megacorp, if they don't want you to know who someone is, what their powerlevel is, or even that they exist, YOU DON"T KNOW. It's that simple. The mage lady from the post is a made up character by me, just like Baines was. And there are other people in this world besides just the PC's that play the game, or it would be a pretty damned deserted world out there. Item 3: Understanding, and patience: We're going to need a Wiz, preferably one that REALLY knows how Dakiron operates (like Razorhawk) to pose and mess around with their responses to Red's actions. Item 4: Complaints about my *storylines being too spammy: I don't know what to tell you, people, save EX-FUCKIN-SCUSE me for trying to bring back the obviously dead as a doornail public and/or large scale roleplay around here. I'm getting RRU contacts and business I'm REALLY interested in working with, and I'm trying to get SOMEONE interested enough in me to contact me before I have to go for the summer. -------------------------- Message 6593 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Fri May 28 21:35:24 1999 EDT From: Vertemis (#23360) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Free to a good home. One MOO programmer (yeah I know, a dime a dozen) I'm going to be having plenty of free time with summer coming up. @Send me if you have room. -------------------------- Message 6594 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sat May 29 12:29:07 1999 EDT From: DragonBabe (#5288) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Re: $ Sorry, Cirrus. There are no 'Unknown Magus/Magi'. That is a solid ruling/whatever. Ask the Magi here already. They are limited. There CAN be and are unknown Adepts/Magisters etc. So, your storyline Can have an unknown Magister/Adept in it. *hugs* DB/Di -------------------------- Message 6595 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sat May 29 12:37:19 1999 EDT From: DragonBabe (#5288) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Re: $$ I liked Cirrus's posts. Well done and interesting. Might suggest breaking them up into two posts..less spammy and easier for those players that can't scroll back. And an Adept, CAN do the things he wrote of..easily. So..lay off him, people. Good work Cirrus.. Oh, and BTW, I have done alot with Dak, as most of you know, and DAK could and would use any available means to go after a recomb if they felt it was valuable enough, OR if one specific hot shot got pissed at it. *hugs* DB/Di -------------------------- Message 6596 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sun May 30 03:25:06 1999 EDT From: Red_Fang (#5907) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Party Sorry I missed the party, got violantly ill there and had to go afk and just took me awhile to get over it. After Paris, I trekked through Tours, Bordeaux and Arcachon France. Then came Barcelona, Spain. Then, Cannes, Nice, and Eze on the French Riviera. Caught the film festival and avoided the Grand Prix in Monaca. Then, Rome and Florence Italy. Then Geneva, Montreaux, Lausanne and Lucenne Switzerland. Then Salzburg Austria. (Where I paraglided and white water rafted!) Now, Munich Germany. Only Prague Czech Republic and Amsterdam Netherlands to go! Homesick for the little things. Most of all I miss my friends. Hope that all is well with you all. Take care and see you online in June. *hugs* Ariadne/Sue -------------------------- Message 6599 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Tue Jun 1 17:57:54 1999 EDT From: Nomar (#17488) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: Fresh Prince Of Belair Can someone direct me to a site where there is a smal clip or something showing how Carlton dances?
