Erm... the point of medic really isn't boosting medic or other skills. Boosts technically happen while you get practical experience with any given skill. Yes, practicing bandaging injured people is a very IC activity. MAgic wears on the body. mmmm hmmm. Bah. Bad enough you can't cast one handed, or with armor on. Just what we need. It's hard enough for newbies to get high stats, which is what most mages are, seekers. What if you practise a kind of magic that drains others, than the self? Hmmm. Gorsh. I do agree. There are too many mages. But the class is open. Anyone who wants in, gets in. The problem isn't that mages are overpowered, or don't have enough 'disadvantages'. The problem is bionics, bieng uncoded, aren't a incentive class. Neither are submariners, whose ability to breathe water quickly looses it's spark. Recombs.....there are a fair crop of those. But they, also, have little advantage, other than natural weaponry. Which though nice, isn't the best thing going. Yessiiiree. Dragonriders, Soulmechs, and Undeads are 'closed' classes, available only to a few, occasional entries. The only class with coded enticement of power and gaurentee'd entry, along with interesting abilities, at the current moment, is mages. Well, I don't really see what the advantage to playing a subbie over a human is other than going underwater, which doesn't seem much of an advantage to me somehow. I mean... sure it's cool and all, but I was VERY surprised to learn that there weren't any special items only available to Subbies. For instance, most of the subbie classes and subbies in generally supposedly spend most, if not all of thier lives undersea. Swords and staffs and knives dont function too well as protection undersea. So why isn't there a special replicator somewhere undersea that makes a generic spear or trident for Subbie use? I'm not talking about magic items here.... just common sense. Undersea isn't exactly SAFE... so how in heck do subbies protect themselves there? I guess I was also a bit surprised to learn that subbies don't have some sort of natural defense. Claws or some sort of sonic weapon only useful underwater or maybe a contact poison or something. Have YOU ever seen a sea creature without natural defenses? If you were not so interested in the "perfect toy" then why did you make the new subbie char that you did? As far as classes being left unfinished? Why is this, there are more then enough wiz's on this moo. I know rl takes first place, but perhaps Quinn needs to rethink his pecking order to finish the projects in then works. Being a wiz means you have responsibilities, not creating any char you want to bask in the glory of rping. In my opinion there are to many builders and not enough coders. Now this is my opinion, it in no way means Im complaining. I think everyone who works on this moo has done a wonderful job. As far as I can tell those things and blue skin are all that differ from a `stock' human. Ok, now for the spam: Whether everything is finished or developed makes no difference, improvise and play with what you got. I made a feasible character's past and history without a hitch, granted I have years of roleplaying experience to draw from so my .sheet looks like some kinda character sheet from some rpg somewhere. I love the freedom to customize here, to describe one's clothing and basic equipment with things like useable items, replanishable food/drinks, and basic weapons to use as props for the acting we're here to do. Think about it, you don't bitch to the owner of a lot being bulldozed because you can't shop in the stores that haven't been built yet- These things take time. Yelling at the foreman or contractor won't get it done any faster.
